April 13, 1929 ~ November 18, 2024 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Timothy Johnson, Jr. Obituary

TIMOTHY JOHNSON JR. passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 after a brief illness at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Towson, MD.  He was born on April 13, 1929 in Kannapolis, N.C. to the late Timothy John Johnson and Zenobia L. Johnson. At an early age he confessed his faith in Christ and joined the Marable Memorial AME Zion Church. Timothy received his formal education in Kannapolis, N.C and graduated from Carver High School. 

Timothy was drafted into the army where he served from 1956 to 1958 and was honorably discharged. After leaving the army he enrolled for two years at the University of North Carolina A&T for a degree in Commercial Arts. Timothy continued service in the government, working for 35 years at the main Post Office in Washington, DC., until his retirement from service.

Timothy was united in holy matrimony to Mary Watley for 66 years. From this union was born one son Mark Ross Johnson Sr. He was a kind, loving a caring individual. Quietly he went about doing the Master’s will by being a good Samaritan to his family and friends,

Timothy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Watley, sister Eloise Johnson, and brother Dennis Johnson.  He leaves to cherish his memory his son Mark Johnson (Tammy Sydnor-Johnson); sister Mary Black of Kannapolis NC; grandchildren, Jeron (Felicia), Mark Jr. (Ashley), Brittany, Valenica(Luther),  Brandon,  Latequia  (DeVaughn), Jeremy, and  Zaneda; eight great-grandchildren, Jeron Jr., Tyrelle, D’niya, Mark III, Devaughn, Armond, Blayke, Kody, Lux, Lola, Zoey, Zane, and Keory; sister-in-law, Tambra Ward of Atlanta, GA; nephews, Darrell (Geraldine), Michael Black of Kannapolis NC, and Marco (Allison) Offord of Sunderland MD. Rev Richard D. Offord (Mattie) of Pennsylvania, Tyrone Holland of Baltimore MD, Sheila Offord of Washington, DC, and a host of cousins and friends.
