Seneca Burnett was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, in Onslow County, to the late Etta Mae Burnett and the late Johnnie Burnett. She lived a life defined by strength, dedication, and unwavering love for her family.
Seneca was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence brought warmth and stability to everyone she encountered. She was known for her strong work ethic and her belief in taking responsibility and persevering through life’s challenges without excuses. Whatever needed to be done, she figured it out.
She was educated in the District of Columbia, graduating from Coolidge High School and later completing some college coursework at the University of the District of Columbia, where she pursued her dream of one day becoming a lawyer. Throughout her career, Seneca demonstrated professionalism and dedication in every role she held. She worked as a receptionist at the Washington Hilton Hotel, served as a secretary at a law firm, and later gave back to her community as a substitute teacher at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School.
Above all else, Seneca was deeply passionate about her family and took great pride in being present for every milestone and special occasion. She found joy in watching Madea movies, solving challenging puzzles, and expressing her creativity through scrapbooking, collages, and sewing. Whether she was making clothes, Christmas stockings, or stuffed animals, her handmade creations were reflections of her love.
