Rodney McQueen, Jr.

Rodney McQueen Jr. was born to the late Henry and Sarah McQueen. He was the youngest of four siblings; Sarah, Weldon, Maeceil. 

Rodney proudly served in the Army in 1971. Shortly afterward, he met the love of his life, Spring, and together they built a life throughout the DMV area for more than 50 years. Throughout his working years, Rodney held positions at DC General, the Capital Centre, the Smithsonian, and several trucking companies. Later in life, he worked at Costco, a job he often spoke about proudly to anyone willing to listen.

Rodney enjoyed fishing, playing his numbers, betting on horses, and most of all, spending time with family at gatherings and celebrations.

He leaves to cherish his memory his four children: Capelle, Rodney III, Star, and Marcus. He is also survived by his 12 beloved grandchildren: Joshua, Destiny, Noah, Jalyn, Rodney IV, Shekinah, Genesis, Leah, Miracle, Monae, Jordan, and Kareem; two great-grand children Dillyon and Jeremiah. He also leaves behind his nieces, Rhonda, and Tracy; his nephew, Bennie; his daughter-in-law, Letitia; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his brother Weldon and niece Deborah. 

Family and friends are invited to join the McQueen family on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Church as they celebrate the life and legacy of Rodney McQueen Jr. A repast will be held immediately after the funeral service at Harmony Hall.
