Oscar Monroe Wilson, Sr., affectionately known as “Money” to family and friends, was born in Blackstone, VA, on January 19,1945. Oscar fell asleep in the Arms of Jesus on January 17, 2025, after being sick for a while.
Oscar was raised by his mother, the late Viola Wilson Graves, and at the age of 12 Oscar came to Washington, D.C., where his late uncle Rev. Robert L. Walker and late aunt Florina Jean Walker continued in his upbringing. “Money” attended A.G. Richardson Grade School and Foster High School in Blackstone, V.A. He left Blackstone in the 9th grade to continue his studies at Eastern High School in Washington, D.C., where he graduated in 1963.
He accepted Christ at a very young age. He Joined New Image Community Baptists Church on December 14, 1983, under the leadership of the late Rev. Robert L. Walker. In 1993, he moved his membership to the Washington Christian Center under the leadership of Rev. Lorenzo McKinney, then later the Rev. Duane McKinney.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 59 years, Gloria Wilson; his daughter Stephanie (Jovan); his son Oscar; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, two brothers in law, three sisters in law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
