Larry Anderson

Larry Benjamin, affectionately known as Rabbit/Rab/Bad Rabbit/Bad Larry, departed this life on August 12, 2024, at Adventist Healthcare White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland.  He was born on October 11, 1947, to the late Eddie and Mildred Cooper.

Larry attended the District of Columbia public schools and proudly served in the United States Army after high school.  For many years, he was employed by the United States Federal Government as a security guard and spent time working at the Navy Yard.

Larry's family was the cornerstone of his life.  He was married to Florence, with whom he had two children, Larry and Donna, and was blessed with four grandchildren.  Later, he married the late Joann Dorsey.  Larry had an immense love for his family and friends, always embodying the role of a protector since his teenage years.  He would travel across town to help or defend anyone in need.

A talented cook and entertainer, Larry loved hosting special occasions at his home, where family, friends, and adopted family gathered to create lasting memories.  Even during his time in nursing facilities and hospitals, he maintained his cheerful spirit, responding to inquiries about his health with phrases like "with my hands" or "pretty fair for a square."  When told "I love you," his warm reply was always "Love you more."

Larry is now at peace, and his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind cherished memories shared with his brother Eddie Cooper (Deborah); son, Larry Dean Anderson; daughter Donna Cole; grandchildren, Alisha Cole, Andrea Cole, Dale Cole Jr., and Cammila Anderson; sister-cousin, Dorris "Bunny" Reid (Choncie); nieces, Sheree McKnight and Daisha Cooper and Sonja Anderson; and a host of other loving relatives and close friends.
