Henry Elson Thompson was born on March 9, 1923 to the late Emma Lee Brice and the late Frank Thompson in Fluvanna, Va. He joined the army on February 5, 1943 and was honorably discharged on February 22, 1946 as a staff sergeant. While serving in the Army he was awarded the good conduct medal, American Theater Ribbon, and WWII Victory Ribbon.
During his early years, he worked for the family of PJ Nee. Every summer, Uncle Henry would drive to Maine with the Nee family and stay from June until August.
He married Iris Thorpe in August 1959. They were married for 56 years until her untimely death in 2015.
Uncle Henry enjoyed cooking and having dinners with his family and friends. He was always laughing and joking with everyone.
Uncle Henry enjoyed traveling to his vacation house located in Virginia with family and friends.
Later in life, he was a caretaker for his mother.
He is survived by his youngest sister Arlene Jackson, 3 nieces -Patricia Green, Yvette Jackson, and Theodora Sandifer. One great niece - Shanna Redfearn (Winfred). Marie Thompson preceded him in death earlier this year.
